About REMODEL
REMODEL is a UK research programme developing the next generation of geometry handling and mesh generation technologies for large-scale computational simulation.
Modern engineering and scientific discovery increasingly rely on high-fidelity numerical simulation. However, preparing complex geometries and generating suitable computational meshes remains one of the most difficult and time-consuming steps in the simulation pipeline. REMODEL aims to transform this stage by developing new algorithms, data structures, and automated workflows designed for modern high-performance computing environments.
The programme combines advances in computational geometry, hybrid and adaptive mesh generation, and machine learning techniques to create scalable methods capable of handling complex real-world models. These developments will help researchers and engineers run simulations more efficiently while improving robustness and reliability.
REMODEL brings together researchers from five UK universities, forming a collaborative programme that integrates expertise across geometry modelling, numerical methods, and large-scale computing. The research is organised into several work packages that address key challenges ranging from geometry representation and hybrid meshing strategies to machine-learning-driven mesh prediction and multi-physics integration.
The outcomes of the programme will support applications across sectors including aerospace, energy, automotive, and advanced manufacturing, where reliable simulation is essential for design and performance analysis.
REMODEL is also committed to open dissemination and community engagement. The programme will release software, documentation, and training resources, alongside workshops, webinars, and collaborative events designed to support the wider computational engineering community.
